Navigators Room (2-3 Years)
At Oakmont, we create an engaging environment that encourages social interaction, curiosity, and the development of essential life skills in our toddler’s room. Our program fosters positive relationships, where toddlers learn to communicate, share, and collaborate with their peers. We support risky play, allowing children to challenge themselves in a safe, supervised way, building confidence and resilience. The room also emphasises the importance of routine, providing a sense of security and helping toddlers develop independence and self-regulation. Through a mix of structured activities and free play, we nurture curiosity, creativity, and social growth, setting the foundation for future learning.
Learning Environment
The Navigators room is designed to spark curiosity with resources that encourage hands-on learning. We introduce basic literacy and numeracy through interactive activities and promote social skills through peer interactions. Emotional regulation is supported through guided activities, helping toddlers develop communication, empathy, and self-control in a nurturing environment.
Routine
We introduce a gentle rhythm and routine that supports children’s growing independence and confidence. Planned meal and rest times provide structure and consistency, while still allowing flexibility to respond to individual needs. Our educators balance guided experiences with child-led, interest-based play that encourages exploration, social interaction, and collaboration with peers. Through everyday experiences and play, children are supported in developing early language, literacy, and numeracy skills in meaningful and engaging ways. By creating a predictable yet dynamic environment, we help toddlers feel secure, supported, and eager to learn
