Gardening

Planet Pals at Oakmont is our environmental and gardening program, designed to introduce children to the joys of nature and the importance of sustainability. Through hands-on gardening experiences, children learn how to grow their own vegetables, flowers, and plants while gaining a deeper understanding of the natural world. This program fosters a love for the environment and teaches valuable life skills like patience, responsibility, and nurturing.

Benefits of our program:

Encourages Healthy Eating

Children enjoy the fruits of their labour by harvesting fresh vegetables, learning the value of eating nutritious, homegrown food.

Children gain an understanding of sustainability, conservation, and the importance of caring for our planet.

Gardening teaches children how to care for living things and understand the cycle of growth, fostering a sense of responsibility and commitment.

Activities like planting seeds, watering plants, and harvesting vegetables improve hand-eye coordination and dexterity

Growing plants from seed requires patience, and children learn the value of nurturing and waiting for results.

Watching their plants grow gives children a sense of accomplishment and encourages them to take pride in their work

Gardening projects often involve group work, helping children learn collaboration, sharing, and communication.

The program sparks curiosity about the natural world, encouraging children to ask questions and explore new concepts.
